An interdisciplinary exploration of the combination of methods used in both two- and three-dimensional art forms, allowing students to work toward an integration of material, image, and concept.
Project 1: Duchamp - Appropriation and Readymade
In response to Duchamp's Fountain, think about what the artwork did to the definition of Art, to the Art world, and thus to us as artists and audience members
Project 2: 100 Objects
Select one object and by exhibiting 100 (at least 100) of this object, communicate a concept that surfaces from the object itself.
Project 3: Just One
Through an object repeated 10 times, communicate a concept that surfaces from the change between each of the objects.
Project 4: The Game of Success
Create an artwork as a game that dramatizes the journey of an artist working towars ultimate "success." The game must be playable for 2-4 people, replayable, and "packageable."
Final Project: Broken Object Meets Light and Shadow
Select 2 primary materials or objects to repeat. There must be no fewer than 25 of this object hung in the gallery. These materials/objects must create shadows.
